PEF Campaign Initiatives

The PEF provides technology and incentive grants for innovative teaching projects with funds raised through donations, grants and fundraising efforts. Some examples are: resources for the design and development of state of the art math and science labs, implementing wireless internet throughout the district, and investigating the use of handheld devices to enhance learning opportunities. In addition, the Trailblazer Award provides grant money annually to faculty who demonstrate excellence in teaching. Honorees at each of the 6 district schools are selected by committee from a pool of nominations and receive resources to further their curriculum goals.

PEF Overview

Why an educational foundation?
The Pentucket Regional School District follows other area communities in establishing an educational foundation. These organizations provide much needed revenue to fund unique technology and program initiatives.
Key benefits of an educational foundation:
As a designated charitable organization the Pentucket Educational Foundation will be able to:
·        Bring the Groveland, Merrimac and West Newbury communities together to enrich the lives of students within the district.
·        Generate revenue through fund raising and social events such as, cocktail parties, road races, comedy shows, etc.
·        Provide a tax-deductible contribution option for giving to the school system
·        Access matching grant programs from major institutions
·        Encourage alumni involvement and giving in the schools
·        Allow individuals to make a lasting impact through planned giving
·        Establish naming programs for key rooms and fields to provide recognition and revenue

Examples of what the Education Foundation can provide for our students:
An alternative funding vehicle to support key areas in public education is critical in times where state and local aid is cut. Such funding could include many projects and would be based upon the current needs within the region including:
·        Funding for much needed technology throughout the school system
·        Resources for the design and development of state of the art math and science labs
·        Enrichment programs not currently offered by the schools
·        Challenging new courses of study geared to future career paths
·        Establishment of an alumni network for past and future students

The Board of Directors and Committee Members :
Members of the Board of Directors are charged with establishing the foundation, with the help of committee members from Groveland, Merrimac and West Newbury. The Boards role will be to designate how the foundation funds are to be used and to assist with fundraising efforts.
·        The 7-25 member Board of Directors meet approximately once a month.
·        Committees including Alumni Relations, Fund-raising, Needs Assessment, Grant Writing, Trailblazers Award, etc are made up of board members and other committed community volunteers.
